AU Chairperson calls for renewed international support to combat terrorism

The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has strongly condemns the terrorist attack against a base of the Malian army in the village of Dioura, in the Mopti region, in the centre of the country, on the night of 16 to 17 March 2019, resulting in the deaths of many soldiers.

UN-AU Joint Task Force on Peace and Security Holds Sixteenth Consultative Meeting in Addis-Ababa

The meeting explored prospects for cooperation in support of the upcoming electoral processes on the continent and discussed the situation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Central African Republic (CAR), Burundi, Mali and the Sahel region including the security situation in Burkina Faso and Niger. They also exchanged views on the situations in Libya, South Sudan and the Lake Chad Basin region.

Greater international cooperation is needed to prevent unsafe food from causing ill health and hampering progress towards sustainable development, world leaders said at today’s opening session of the First International Food Safety Conference, in Addis Ababa, organized by the African Union (AU), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
