All People’s Congress Mayoral Candidate for the Freetown Municipality, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, on Monday met with stakeholders and electorates during her first engagement with Community Elders and Party Supporters.
Her reason for contesting, she said, is because she cares deeply for the country and particularly for the country’s capital.
Aki-Sawyerr assured the electorates that when elected, she will be a Mayor for everyone in Freetown and will ensure a different future is given to the city of Freetown. She promised to bring her time, resources and energy to help transform the city of Freetown.
She recounted her experiences over the years, particularly during the war period, as well as her days at the National Ebola Response Centre (NERC) as Director of Planning and other institutions she had served.
On the need for reconciliation, Madam Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr said power comes from God and that those who didn’t make it for symbols should work with the Party to ensure victory. She also encouraged Party supporters who have not collected their voter identification cards to do so if only the party should win.
Her supporters said she is a dedicated person with a passion to serve her people.
“When elected she will help change the face of the city,” said Kadiatu Dumbuya, a trader at Sani Abacha Street.
