ACC Indicts Top Officials Of The Needy Today (Tnt) For Misappropriation Of Ebola Funds And Five Others For Various Corruption Offences

The Anti-Corruption Commission has on 10th February 2017 issued a 24 Count indictment in the High Court of Sierra Leone, holden at Freetown, against three senior officials of The Needy Today (TNT), a Non-Governmental Organization, for Misappropriation of Donor Funds contrary to Section 37 (1) and Giving Advantage contrary to Section 28 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008.

According to the particulars of offence, Dauda Ahmid Koroma, Jessy Jim Braima Kpagoi and Alfred Mustapha Bangura on a date unknown between 25th August 2015 and 6th January 2016 in the Northern Region of the Republic of Sierra Leone, being the Executive Director, Programme Manager and Finance Officer of the TNT respectively, dishonestly appropriated donor funds meant for “Protection of Vulnerable Groups during the Ebola Outbreak Response” project amounting to Le 346,450,000 (Three Hundred and Forty-Six Million Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones).

In another development, the Commission has issued a 2 Count indictment against Prince Moigornah Emmnuel Nallo, Bockarie S. Mattia, Nyakeh Tommy Ndewama, Amos Gbonda and Prince K. Kallon for Conspiracy to Commit a Corruption Offence, contrary to Section 128 (1) and Peddling Influence by soliciting monies from suspects to purportedly influence an ACC investigation contrary to Section 31(3) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008.

It will be recalled that on diverse dates between 1st April and 17th December 2016 at Bo District, Prince Moigornah Emmanuel Nallo, a social worker at Defence for Children International, Bockarie S. Mattia, a teacher at Kakua Government Senior Secondary School, Nyakeh Tommy Ndemawa, a student at Njala University, and Prince K. Kallon, a civil  society activist at the Human Rights Youth Coalition, conspired together and with other unknown persons to solicit monies from Bishop Emmanuel J.S Tucker in consideration for influencing the ACC’s investigations  of the said Bishop.

The Commission wishes to reiterate its unshaken resolve to fight corruption at all times.
