KCB Group Wins 4 Global HR Excellence Awards

East Africa’s largest commercial Bank, KCB Group, has scooped four top global HR Excellence awards, highlighting the Bank’s continued investment in its human capital proposition.

The Bank was feted as the Best Employer of the year at the 24th edition of the GlobalHR Excellence Awards ceremony held in Mumbai, India on Monday. The annual awards are meant to recognize top organizations and individuals, who have excelled in embracing emerging trends in Human Resource Management that could change the paradigm in leading people at work.

During the award ceremony, KCB scoped three more awards— Best Group in Managing Health at Work, Best HR in Line with Business while KCB Group Human Resource Director Paul Russo was named among the top 100 most Influential Global HR Professionals.

The annual awards are meant to recognize top organizations across Africa, which have excelled in building the employer brand as an employer of choice and have of late emerged as a stimulus in creating a culture of contribution and innovation at work.

KCB Group HR Director Paul Russo said the recognition is an important milestone for the Group as it goes a long way in affirming its continued and deliberate investments in the people agenda which has now placed the Bank ahead of Africa’s biggest corporations when it comes to offering top-notch employee value proposition.

“We have over the years worked out a comprehensive employee proposition guided by the understanding that human capital is the most important arsenal for any organisation which will define its future, sustainability and competitiveness,” said Mr Russo.

“This is a recognition of our brand’s excellence and brand supremacy and most befitting of our position as an industry leader. The various employee reform programmes we have put in place in the recent past have put us on the global map. A healthy workplace has become a cornerstone of our culture and we continuously seek to improve our healthy workplace across the seven markets we operate in,” said Mr Russo.

The awards are part of the World HRD Congress that offers networking opportunities and unique in-depth approaches to understanding important workplace issues that affect an organization’s viability in today’s fast-paced business environment.

“Promotion of wellness at the workplace can serve to bring a change not only to the employees and the company they work in but also to the community at large. It is through the active process of becoming aware of and making changes to a more successful existence that comprehensive workplace programmes” added Mr. Russo.

Over the years the HR Excellence Awards have been termed as the longest running, most sought after and highly regarded in the industry. The Awards celebrate the light HR shines on business, how innovative people strategy can transform not just the culture of an organization, but its bottom line too.

KCB Group has recently rolled out a number of employee wellness programmes aimed at promoting social, psychological and emotional wellness among them a lactation center, a Zumba/aerobic arena and a pharmacy to enable staff have access to prescribed medication at subsidized rates. In December, the bank was feted as Africa’s Best Employer Brand by the Employer Branding Institute during the second edition of the Africa Best Employer Brand Awards.
