900,000 children raise their voices against childhood cancer in new hit song!

Earlier this year Childhood Cancer International teamed up with Disney’s Frozen composer Christophe Beck to raise childhood cancer awareness.


During this ground-breaking campaign, Child4Child.com, children from across the globe were invited to record their voices singing the chorus to the new hit song: We Are One. The creative responses have been overwhelming!

More than 900,000 children and teens have not only recorded themselves singing the chorus; they have created dances, lip-syncing videos, and even covers!

And today—International Childhood Cancer Day—we finally get to hear, and see, the results of this creativity, as the official version of We Are One is released on major platforms including iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify.

The Child4Child campaign began in January with a launch of the web site child4child.com. Children from around the world were asked to raise their voices against childhood cancer by singing along to the chorus of the song We Are One, a song specially written by the prolific Hollywood composer Christophe Beck and his 12-year-old daughter Sophie.

Now, six weeks after its launch, over 900,000 children have participated in this rapidly-growing awareness effort. In fact, the campaign became a trending topic on Musical.ly just hours after the Child4Child launch!

Today, on International Childhood Cancer Day, We Are One is being released on digital platforms including iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer and Spotify.  While the verses are sung by up-and-coming musical talents such as Sophie Beck, the chorus is a global choir of the children who have participated in this amazing event, and includes young talents such as Alexa Curtis (winner of The Voice Kids Australia 2014), Livvy Stubenrauch (the voice of Anna in Disney’s Frozen), Robbie Firmin (Britain’s Got Talent) and Aaralyn O’Neil (America’s Got Talent).

The release of We Are One is accompanied by an official music video available today on YouTube. The video consists of the hundreds of thousands of video contributions and recordings of the song that Child4Child has recieved over the past several weeks. The video is directed and edited by internationally acclaimed director Johan Söderberg, known for his work on David Bowie’s last music video, as well as videos for Beyoncé and Madonna.

International Childhood Cancer Day is a global cross sectoral awareness campaign first launched in 2002 by International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parents Organizations (now CCI). It celebrates the courage, resiliency and strength of children and adolescents with cancer.

It spotlights the need for more equitable and better access to childhood cancer care for all children everywhere as well as the importance of express ing support for children and adolescents with cancer , the survivors and their families.

The day promotes increased appreciation and deeper understanding of issues and challenges faced by  children/adolescents with cancer, the survivors , their families and society. Childhood cancer is not only a disease which affects individual families, its ripple effects impact on society as a whole and the future we all share. ICCD is now celebrated by World Health Organization  and supported by other childhood cancer and child health supportive global networks in 100 countries.
