US wants cooperation with Angola in agriculture field

Angola — US ambassador to Angola, Helen La Lime, has called for the need to strengthen cooperation in the fields of agriculture and cattle breeding during her visit in Quilengues, 143 kilometers north of Lubango, Huíla province on Wednesday.

Speaking to the reporters after the evaluation of projects implemented by the US NGO CRS in that locality, the diplomat admitted the possibility of more US investments, at a time Angola is working toward ending dependence on oil.

The diplomat stressed the importance of NGO investments in sector, which, according to her, helps farmers increase their production.

After acknowledging that Angola will face tough period in the economy, the ambassador said the parties should work to ensure more contact in the livestock sectors of this province with their American counterparts.

According to diplomat, these contacts will attract new and better investments in Angola.

Helen La Lime said that the Embassy prioritises a strong dialogue on the challenges in Angola, described as partner of her country.

The agriculture development project covers 1, 150 families affected by drought since 2012.
