Kenya Airways CEO Appointed New Chair of Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO)

Kenya– Kenya Airways Chief Executive and Managing Director Mbuvi Ngunze has been elected as the chairman of Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO), a body mandated to promote, foster and protect the interests of those engaged in civil aviation or associated industries in Kenya.

Mbuvi was elected during the last Annual General Meeting (AGM) for a three year term.

Some of the key issues the association will engage Government on policy areas of taxes and infrastructure as well as open skies in the region. The lobby group will also engage Government on need for system based competition for the sector to spur further growth of aviation in Kenya and enable the country to compete against countries like UAE and Singapore.

Mr Mbuvi also sits as the chair of the African Airline Association (AFRAA). He also sits on the Board of JamboJet Limited, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and the International Air Transport Association.

Mbuvi holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree accounting option from the University of Nairobi. He is a Chartered Accountant (England and Wales) and is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Management Development Program (PMD75).

He joined KQ in September 2011 as Chief Operating Officer and took over as Group managing Director and CEO in November 2014.
