The ACC wishes to the inform the general public that the Commissioner,
Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, on 12th December 2015, received two prestigious awards from local Civil Society Organizations for distinguished service in the fight against corruption and promoting women’s rights in Sierra Leone.
The Diaspora Focus, an advocacy group, conferred the National Development Award 2015 on Commissioner Joseph F. Kamara, for “holistic fight against corruption” at a ceremony held at the Miatta Conference Hall, Youyi Building, Freetown.
In a related development, an organization named, the Women of Sierra Leone, through Girls Advocacy Network Sierra Leone, awarded Commissioner Kamara, a Certificate of Appreciation for “His special efforts in promoting the right of girls and women in Sierra Leone for the past eight years.”
Mr. Joseph F. Kamara is also a recipient of the Avon International Award for Legal Development in the Rights for Women, in pioneering the recognition of “Forced Marriage” as an offence in International Criminal Law.
Whilst accepting these prestigious accolades, Commissioner Kamara dedicated the receipt of the awards to the staff of the Commission for their support and hard work. He further reassured the general public that the Commission remains committed to its core mandate to make Sierra Leone a corrupt-free society.
