Sierra Leone: he office of the Ombudsman Monday 30 November, 2015, presented its annual report to President Ernest Bai Koroma at State House, Freetown. The report is a two year report covering 2013 and 2014 activity years. The Office of the Ombudsman receives and examines complaints from members of the public who feel they have been unfairly treated by certain public institutions or authorities.
Receiving the report, President Koroma thanked the office of the Ombudsman for the great work done particularly when the Ombudsman has an additional responsibility of chairing the ongoing Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) – going through numerous reports and position papers. He described the report as not just timely, but an indication of commitment, and assured that the challenges facing the office will be addressed.
The Ombudsman, Justice Edmond Cowan in his statement said amid the challenges, the office was able to put together a 2013 and 2014 report. He said the report includes a summary of some of the concluded cases while registering commitment to moving the office forward.
