The Ernest Koroma Coaster, named after the president of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, is a 72 seater boat fully air conditioned with television and wi-fi.
The CEO of Sea Coach Express, Mr. Olusegun jaji, commended his employees for the development the company has attained so far, adding that they don’t take anything for granted for the safety of their customers.
He also disclosed that the company now operates in Lagos and there are ongoing works for operations in Cameroon.
“All of these would not have happened if we had not the chance in Sierra Leone,” he said.
Sea Coach Express started operations in Sierra Leone in 2008 as Pelican Taxi being the pioneer of the water taxi service for passenger transfer to and from Lungi International Airport.
The Minister of Transport and Aviation, Leonard Balogu Koroma, said over the years, the country has seen a change of Sea Coach Express to meet customer demand and a continued determination in improving on water taxi passenger transfer service, as demanded by their passengers.
In a letter to His Excellency the President, from the Sea coach CEO, Mr. Jaji mentioned that the vessel will be named after His Excellency the President in recognition of the enabling environment his administration created for the operation of Sea Coach.
“This statement clearly demonstrates the commitment from the Government to serve its people and improve on the image of the country as well as facilitate passenger transfer across the estuary.
“The fact that we are here today to launch a 72 Seater boat, fully air conditioned with television and wi-fi for added passenger comfort, speaks volumes and goes to show that this Government supports and will continue to support private investors who want to make a positive change in the country in line with the President’s Agenda for Prosperity,” the minister said.
