The Minister of Transport and Aviation, Leonard Balongu Koroma, has informed members of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Transport and Aviation that President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma will launch 100 busses for public transport services in the country.
The Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Transport and Aviation Chaired by Hon. Alpha Babatunde Lewally on Tuesday this week engaged officials of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and Agencies supervised by the Ministry base on an information sharing process on the activates of the Ministry.
The meeting which took place at the New Conference Hall of the Administrative Building of Parliament brought together MPs and officials from the Sierra Leone Airport Authority, Sierra Leone Port Authority, Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority, Sierra Leone Marine Time Administration, Sierra Leone Shipping Agency and the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Leonard Balongun Logus Koroma.
It was in this meeting that the Minister informed Parliaments that the Sierra lone AirPort Authority has being transformed to meet international standards and that President Koroma will soon commission the Port.
He also disclosed to Parliament that President Koroma will launch a total of one hundred buses next month as was promised to the people of Sierra Leone for public transportation.
He also said the president will commission two new ferries for Lungai and Freetown.
“Plans are on the way to introduce the school bus service system,” he noted.
The members of the Committee commend the minister for the work being done as well as informing him that the Committee will continue to inspect all projects and facilities highlighted in the report.
